About the teacher
Hi there, I'm Melanie Chadwick, a freelance artist and illustrator based on the Lizard peninsula in Cornwall. I graduated with a Fine Arts degree over 20 years ago and have been working as an illustrator for the last 10 years.
I discovered sketchbooks 5 years ago and ever since have been obsessed with drawing my surroundings. Alongside my client work, I teach workshops and lead sketch walks as well as share my sketchbooks and art practice on YouTube.

Sketchbooks
Sketchbooks come in a range of sizes, shapes and weights. From pocket-sized and teeny-tiny to large and weighty. Sketchbooks are a great way to play and improve your drawing skills and capture scenes from your walks and daily life.
Creative Layouts
I find that the layout on each page is just as important as the subject you are drawing. Framing, cropping, and zooming in and out are all things you'll see and hear me talking about in my sketchbook practice.
Mixed Media
I love to use a range of mixed media in my sketchbooks and in my art practice. In each course or resource, I will introduce a range of materials I'm using and you'll see how fun it is to mix your media.
